CALIFORNIA WELCOME CENTER GEARING UP FOR THE HOLIDAYS

GOCVB

Ontario Mills welcomes over 28 million visitors annually. If you have ever worked retail, especially at Ontario Mills, you feel like all 28 million people shop from Thanksgiving weekend to New Year’s Day! The California Welcome Center at Fashion Alley in Ontario Mills is operated by the Greater Ontario Convention & Visitors Bureau. In addition to the core duties of greeting visitors, providing information on California destinations, and regional points of interest our staff also acts as Guest Services for the entire mall.

It never ceases to amaze me all the unique places in the Greater Ontario area. The video we shot this month was at Logan’s Candies. It was like visiting Mayberry – now I’m really dating myself. All of you too young to know what Mayberry is you’ll need to visit Google. I took on the challenge and worked on the handmade candy cane line. It was a lot of fun and I can highly recommend making a stop during the holidays to watch the process in person.

We survived another HUGE event – Route 66 Cruisin’ Reunion was fantastic this year! First of all, the Chamber of Commerce “perfect” weather of 80 degrees was a great reason to spend the weekend outdoors. We had almost 1,000 classic cars representing five states across the nation participate in this 3-day classic car event. No wonder over 150,000 attendees were here in downtown Ontario on historic Euclid Avenue.

The hot dog days of summer have not slowed down our team at Greater Ontario Convention & Visitors Bureau! We seem to be busier than ever which is a good sign that our economy is full steam ahead and as the tourism and destination experts for the region we’re involved in just about everything. Our region is taking off – not only the Ontario International Airport but the new hotels under construction, and exciting development projects for land use.
