China Airlines Test Flight from Taiwan to Ontario a Success!

Reception for 250 visitors hosted by Greater Ontario Convention & Visitors Bureau

Ontario, California – (January 26, 2018) The Greater Ontario Convention & Visitors Bureau was pleased to work in association with Ontario International Airport and China Airlines to welcome visitors arriving from Taiwan on the first trail operation flight from Taiwan. As the official destination marketing organization and tourism authority for the cities of Ontario and Rancho Cucamonga, the Greater Ontario Convention & Visitors Bureau team of experts understands the economic impact the travel industry has on the local economy and focuses on attracting visitors to generate overnight hotel stays.

California is a top destination for China travel and continues to be the number one overseas market. In 2016, 1.3 million Chinese travelers visited California contributing $2.6 billion to California’s overall economy and the number of visitors is expected to increase to over 2 million over the next 3 years. Welcoming Chinese visitors and understanding the cultural nuances, social etiquette and complexity of this market is becoming increasingly more important. In September of 2017, China Airlines the first Pan Pacific direct flights to Ontario would be offered four times weekly. Due to demand, the schedule was recently increased to daily flights. Fights will begin on April 1, 2018.

The Ontario International Airport terminal gate was recreated as a sophisticated lounge for this important reception. The VIP visitors are touring the region on an arranged familiarization tour by the Greater Ontario Convention & Visitors Bureau. “It is our pleasure to welcome visitors to Greater Ontario, nationally and internationally” said Michael Krouse, President and CEO of Greater Ontario Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Congratulations to Ontario International Airport Authority for this milestone – this is the first Pan Pacific direct flight to Ontario!”.

One of the stops on the familiarization tour will be the California Welcome Center at Ontario Mills, operated by the Greater Ontario Convention & Visitors Bureau. Visitors can learn more about the State of California, the Inland Empire region, and our local destinations. The tourism experts can assist with booking hotels, recommending restaurants, suggesting itineraries, along with providing Guest Services for the entire Ontario Mills Mall. The tour will include dining, tours of our cultural communities, shopping, and some of the major tourism destinations in Southern California.
