Skiing, rock-climbing, restful spas and action-packed ice hockey are just some of the many activities portrayed in a new video unveiled this week by the Greater Ontario Convention & Visitors Bureau to showcase the abundance of entertainment options available in our region.
The 2.5-minute video, artfully produced by Shade Tree Films, draws on visuals to represent a variety of travel and tourism options in the Greater Ontario region. Non-narrative in nature, it captures breathtaking imagery of mountains, golfing, biking, swimming, dining, local landmarks, auto-racing, wineries and conventions to reflect the many reasons why people should consider the region for vacations, business travel and events.
“Welcome to Greater Ontario. Meet, explore and connect in tomorrow’s West,” are the only words spoken, but the message is clear:
“Greater Ontario needed a visual representation of what our destination has to offer,” said Michael Krouse, President and CEO of the Greater Ontario Convention & Visitors Bureau. “This video reflects convenient travel via Ontario International Airport and major freeways, and illustrates how much there is to do and how central we are to other regional attractions and assets such as Big Bear and the beaches.”
It will be used to promote visitation to Greater Ontario through multiple sources, including through direct sales, industry trades, leisure advertising, trade shows, events, social media and more. "It helps to have a visual tool to assist in effectively communicating the benefits and value of a destination to prospective clients and visitors,” Krouse said. “The idea is to create something that gives people an idea of the many things they can do while traveling here. This will help.”
The video is part of a larger strategic marketing campaign launched by Krouse last year to promote the Greater Ontario region as a culturally and ethnically diverse destination, with a three-pronged focus on travel and tourism; meetings, conventions and events; and on establishing the Ontario Convention Center as a venue for extended events that will require overnight hotel stays. The scope of the strategy will be all-encompassing: from individual hotel meetings and group tours to indoor and outdoor multi-venue extravaganzas.
