Greetings from Michael Krouse

The modern American holiday of Mother’s Day was first celebrated in 1908. The second Sunday in May is an annual event to set aside a day to honor mothers, known as the person who has done more for you than anyone in the world. To all the Mothers, wife’s, sisters, daughters, best friends and of course, Mr. Mom - Happy Mother’s Day everyone! At Ontario Convention Center we are looking forward to our annual Champagne Brunch celebration on May 14 that includes a live concert with a tribute to Elton John.

I wanted to share some great news from Ontario International Airport - Mexican airline Volaris will provide nonstop flights starting May 16, 2017, between Ontario International Airport (ONT) and León (BJX), the most populous city in the central Mexico state of Guanajuato. Volaris (Airline Code Y4) Flight 834 will depart BJX at 9:29 p.m. and arrive at ONT at 11:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Y4 Flight 835 will depart ONT at 12:56 a.m. and arrive at BJX at 6:06 a.m. on Wednesdays and Sundays. Flights will be operated with a 144-seat Airbus A319 aircraft, departing from ONT Terminal 2 and arriving at ONT's International Terminal. Flights are available for booking at, travel agents and other reservation systems.

Parking rates at Ontario International Airport will be revised effective May 15, 2017, to provide users with more choices and more closely match parking products with customer demand. Commissioners of the Ontario International Airport Authority (OIAA) today approved a Resolution providing the first adjustments to parking products and rates since October 2009 when they were established by the Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners prior to the transfer of the airport to the OIAA on November 1, 2016.

Dining choices at Ontario International Airport (ONT) will be dramatically transformed under a long-term agreement with Delaware North Companies Travel Hospitality Services Inc. Under the agreement, Delaware North will invest $6 million to rebrand and refurbish the food and beverage concessions it operates in the airport's two passenger terminals. New brands will include Cross Grain Brewhouse, Harvest & Grounds, W Pizza by Wolf Gang Puck and Plane Box Grab & Go in Terminal 2, and Einstein Bros. Bagels, Wahoo's Tacos & More, Rock & Brews and a renovated Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in Terminal 4. Travelers will begin to notice construction activity this Fall and the entire transformation of food and beverage concessions will be completed within 18 months.

The new agreement is estimated to produce net revenue to the OIAA of $12.9 million over 10 years. Customer pricing will be limited to no more than 10 percent above the street price for food and beverage, down from 18 percent in the current agreement.
